The Pilgrimess is the ghost of Isabella Smith. In 1675, Isabella sailed across the Atlantic Ocean in search for a warm comfortable home in New England, but the tight-knit townsfolk didn’t trust outsiders and isolated her from the town. The town's livestock began to die mysteriously so the local preacher accused her of witchcraft. As more livestock started to fall ill, the preacher acquired a mysterious illness. The town rallied into a frenzy, cornering Isabella in a barn, which they lit on fire. Isabella miraculously crawled out, still alive without a single burn. So instead, she was sentenced to a slow death in the stocks, where she stayed for weeks on end while children stoned her, women cursed her, and men spat on her. The humiliation grew far worse than the pain, so finally Isabella succumbed to starvation. Her ghost is walking around with her hands still locked in the stocks.

Grave Plots

welcome to the first installment of graveplots, a weekly feature where we will post adventure ideas for Cryptworld and Rotworld. These ideas can come movie, tvs,my own warped imagination even a kick ass song can help create a plot for a game.
This week being the first installment I decided to go old school and post some of my favorite plots from games long gone.

1. Suffer the Children - children in the sleepy hamlet of bethpage, NY are vanishing in the middle of the night - the only clue is a toy Doll is found in the bed of the missing child.

2. Fanboy - someone is going around committing horrid murders, the throats of the victims are slashed open and there is evidence that some of the blood has been drunk and always found nearby is a puddle of vomit mixed with blood. The murders are being committed by Terrance Joshua, a social outcast who is suffering  from a psychological enbalance - he believes himself to be a vampire

3. The Funhouse - The Pc's are sent to investigate a carnival ride, where riders have claimed to have been attacked by the animatronic characters. The ride was once part of the famous jolly rogers playland located in levittown, NY. Before the closing of the funpark there was a hideous accident when a child who wanted to see what made the characters move left the ridecar he was in and went backstage, there he witnessed the ride attendent rape and murder a young woman. Found out, the attendent grabed the kid and threw him under the track where he got crushed to death by the next ride cart that passed overhim. The "accident" was the final straw, the owners of the park decommissioned the ride and sold it off to the Phelan traveling show, a small mom and pop carnival that traveled the east coast until 2013, where the owner of the carnival was found dead in the funhouse - cause of death was heart attack. Again the funhouse was sold, this time to a private collector named Kenneth Yee - who contacts the pc's to investigate the funhouse as part of his reality series "Live undead" on the local public access.

Next week, I will post some of my favorite PC's from the old school chill days converted to Crypt World.

Dead Rising: Watchtower

Legendary’s Digital Media division and Crackle announced today the principal cast for the upcoming feature-length project Dead Rising: Watchtower. Rob Riggle (Let’s Be Cops, 22 Jump Street), Harley Morenstein (“Epic Meal Time,” “Epic Meal Empire,” Tusk), Keegan Connor Tracey (“Bates Motel,” “Once Upon a Time”), and Aleks Paunovic (This Means War) will join previously-announced cast members Jesse Metcalfe, Meghan Ory, Virginia Madsen and Dennis Haysbert.

Riggle will join the cast as Frank West, a weathered photo-journalist skilled in surviving Zombie attacks; Morenstein will play Pyro, a menacing biker and Logan’s (Paunovic) second-in-command; Paunovic portrays Logan, a hard criminal and the head of a biker gang and Tracey will take on the role of Jordan, a straight-laced journalist.

Dead Rising: Watchtower takes place during a large-scale zombie outbreak. When a mandatory government vaccine fails to stop the infection from spreading, the four leads must evade infection while also pursuing the root of the epidemic, with all signs pointing to a government conspiracy. Politics, public paranoia, and media coverage play an important role in the story’s narrative.

The project is written by Tim Carter, who is also producing with Tomas Harlan under their Contradiction Films banner. Contradiction most recently produced the hit digital series Mortal Kombat: Legacy. Lorenzo di Bonaventura (Transformers, RED, G.I. Joe) will executive produce.

Crackle will debut Dead Rising: Watchtower in its feature-length form in the U.S. After Crackle’s exclusive distribution run, the project will also be released on SVOD, DVD, VOD and TV. Content Media Corporation will distribute Dead Rising: Watchtower in both feature-length and episodic formats for all international platforms.

The “Dead Rising” game franchise has sold over 7.6 million copies worldwide. Publisher Capcom has sold over 200 million game copies worldwide, including those from series “Resident Evil,” “Street Fighter” and “Mega Man.”

The Evil Within

While investigating the scene of a gruesome mass murder, Detective Sebastian Castellanos and his partners encounter a mysterious and powerful force. After seeing the slaughter of his fellow officers, Sebastian is ambushed and knocked unconscious. When he awakens, he finds himself in a deranged world where hideous creatures wander among the dead. Facing unimaginable terror, and fighting for survival, Sebastian embarks on a frightening journey to unravel what is behind this evil force.
The Evil Within began development in late 2010 under the codename "Project Zwei". Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami served as the game's director, with development taking place at his studio Tango Gameworks. The studio was bought by the game's publisher Bethesda Softworks in 2010, shortly after development began.Mikami said that he wanted to make a survival horror game as he believed that contemporary horror games relied more on action than survival. The game was announced in April 2013. Believing that the tropes of the survival horror had become predictable over time, the design deliberately attempts to make the player feel powerless by taking place in confined spaces, limiting ammunition, and presenting near-invincible enemies that promote running and hiding over engaging in combat. Art Director Naoki Katakai said that the design concept of enemies, such as those wrapped in barbed wire or filled with glass shards, is that they are victims suffering under a greater evil. The asylum itself was inspired by the Winchester Mystery House, a Californian mansion famous for its architectural curiosities.

The Evil Within is built on the id Tech 5 modified by Tango Gameworks. On April 15, 2013, and over the next few days, Bethesda Softworks revealed a series of short cryptic videos teasing the new game, officially announcing it on April 19, 2013, revealing the title, the platforms it will be released on, and a live action teaser trailer. Bethesda Softworks announced that the game had gone gold on September 25, 2014

The Legend of Jure Grando

Jure Grando was a peasant who lived in Kringa/Corridico, a small place in the interior of the Istrian peninsula near Tinjan/Antignana, Croatia. He died in 1656, but according to legend, came back as a vampire (štrigon) and terrorized his village until his decapitation in 1672. According to the legend, for 16 years after his death, Jure would arise from his grave by night and terrorize the village. The village priest, Giorgio, who had buried Jure sixteen years previously discovered that at night somebody would knock on the doors around the village, and on whichever door he knocked, someone from that house would die within the next few days. Jure also appeared to his terrified widow in her bedroom, who described the corpse as looking as though he was smiling and gasping for breath, and would then sexually assault her. When Father Giorgio eventually came face to face with the vampire, he held out a cross in front of him and yelled “Behold Jesus Christ, you vampire! Stop tormenting us!” At that moment tears fell from the vampire’s eyes. The bravest of the villagers led by the perfect Miho Radetić chased and tried to kill the vampire by piercing his heart with a hawthorn stick, but failed because the stick just bounced off of his chest. One night later, nine people went to the graveyard, carrying a cross, lamps, and a hawthorn stick. They dug up Jure’s coffin and found a perfectly preserved corpse with a smile on its face. Father Giorgio said: “Look, štrigon, there is Jesus Christ who saved us from hell and died for us. And you, štrigon, you cannot have peace!” They then tried to pierce its heart again, but the stick could not penetrate its flesh. After some exorcism prayers, the one villager, Stipan Milašić, took a saw and sawed the head off. As soon as the saw tore his skin, the vampire screamed and blood started to flow from the cut, and soon the whole grave was full of blood. According to legend, peace finally returned to the region after Jure’s decapitation.

The Mole People

A narration by Dr. Frank Baxter, an English professor at the University of Southern California, explainsthe premise of the film and its basis in reality. He briefly discusses the hollow earth theories of John Symmes and Cyrus Teed among others, and says that the movie is a fictionalized representation of this unorthodox point of view.
Archaeologists Dr. Roger Bentley and Dr. Jud Bellamin stumble upon a race of Sumerian albinos living deep under the Earth. They keep mutant humanoid mole men as their slaves to harvest mushrooms, their primary food source, since they can grow without sunlight. The Sumerian albinos' ancestors moved into the subterranean after the cataclysmic floods in ancient Mesopotamia. Whenever their population increases, they sacrifice old people to the Eye of Ishtar, which is really natural light coming from the surface. These people have lived underground for so long that they are weakened by bright light which the archaeologists brought in the form of a flashlight. However, there is one girl named Adad who has natural Caucasian skin who is disdained by the others since she has the "mark of darkness." They believe the men are messengers of Ishtar, their goddess. When one of the archaeologists is killed by a mole person, Elinu, the High Priest, realizes they are not gods. He orders their capture and takes the flashlight to control the Mole People, not knowing it is depleted. The archaeologists are then sent to the Eye just as the Mole People rebel. Adad goes to the Eye only to realize its true nature and that the men had survived. They then leave for the surface. Unfortunately, Adad dies after reaching the surface, when an earthquake causes a column to fall over and crush her.

Killer man eating sheep are result of Angus Oldfield's secret genetic experiments that transform ordinary sheep from docile vegetarians into ferocious carnivores whose bite can transform a human into a bloodthirsty half-sheep monstrosity.

Unsettling Powers
Infectious Bite - Any human, or sheep bitten by a Killer man eating sheep can be infected to become a monstrous half sheep - half man with a new zeland accent (if human) or if a sheep, they become a full blooded Killer Man-Eating Sheep that joins the herd. a PC bitten can make a Specific check against Willpower to resist the change, if successful then a Specific Check against Stamina is needed to "burn" out the infectious bite - Failure means the victim changes in 1d6 hours.

Roll of the Dice - 4/1/2014

There is a wind of change that is sweeping the gamer nation and its the OLD SCHOOL thought process. I for one, is for this change to happen. This isn't the hobby I knew and loved for so many years.hell, the system I first started with (ADnD) has been basterized by money grubbing fools who think change is good. Gygax would roll over in his grave if he could see what happened to the game he created. Now, back to my OLD SCHOOL rant - companies like Goblinoid games, who brought back the pacesetter system deserves the support of everyone - they are trying to make gaming fun again. So what I would like is go to www.goblinoidgames.com and check out the pacesetter system and while your there check out the OSR products they offer - they contain the feeling of the first edition ADND set more then the latest WOTC products could offer. But, what about the new Dungeons & Dragons edition? isn't that old school ? Or what about the reprints of the first edition that was released in a megaexpensive set? not good enough...Its time we hold those who want our money accountable and realize that the fan base has a bigger say then a megacorporation backed company such as wizards of the coast. When I started to rpg back in 1979-80 the original set was about $20.00 per book give or take depending on where you purchased the book.Thats all we needed was 3 books, the players handbook, the Dungeon master guide and the monster manual. Everything else came from our imagination, which we as a whole lost somewhere down the line in this hobby. When it takes someone like Tim Snyder who has in my honest opinion a awesome blog titled The Savage AfterWorld [ The URL is www.savageafterworld.blogspot.com ]so after you read this rant go ahead and check out his site.. well enough ranting for now - peace to all, Tim

The Terror Dogs are a vicious breed of demonic hellhounds found in the Ghostbusters franchise, dating as far back as the original film.

Terror Dogs are large and bulky monsters vaguely resembling actual dogs but have horns and glowing red eyes as well as a degree of intelligence and can possess human beings as vessels. Although rarely seen, there seems to be more than one type of Terror Dog, with a much larger breed being briefly seen in the cartoon series.

In honor of a funny man

Born and raised in Chicago, the “SCTV” vet Ramis brought a hilarious combo of anarchy and apathy with him when he moved into movies in the late ’70s. His co-written screenplays for “Animal House” (1978), “Meatballs” (1979), “Caddyshack” (1980) and “Stripes” (1981) were great primers for Gen X guys on how to fight The Man with a lazy grin and a crazy goof.

An anti-authoritarian spirit also floated freely in Ramis and Dan Aykroyd's script for the blockbuster “Ghostbusters” (1984). There — just as when he played straight man to fellow Chicagoan Murray in “Stripes” — Ramis' ectoplasm-chasing Egon was the serious-faced one. However, that was merely the camouflage covert clowns showed to teachers or bosses. Murray’s character may have rallied the troops, but Ramis masterminded it all.

The Thunderbird is ingrained in North American Indian legend, said to bring thunder with one mighty flap of
its wings and lighting with the blink of an eye. Modern reports of the Thunderbird come from various places in the North America, a large number of these sightings take place in the central states and as far north as Pennsylvania. Mark A. Hall, a leading investigator of the Thunderbird, gives the following descript of the creature based upon numerous eye witness testimonials.
"The bird is distinguished by its size and lifting capabilities exceeding those of any known bird living today anywhere in the world. Wingspan estimates are necessarily all guesswork. But observers sometimes have had the benefit of a measurable object for comparison or the benefit of time to observe a resting bird. The results most often provide sizes of 15 to 20 feet. The bird at rest or on the ground appears to be four to eight feet tall. Typically the coloring of the birds overall is dark."

One of the most controversial eye witness reports of the Thunderbird’s ability to lift a human off the ground comes from Lawndale, Illinois. On July 25th, 1977, around 9 pm a group of three boys where playing in a friends backyard when they looked up to see two large birds soaring above. As the birds came closer they became aggressive and attacked the boys, two of which managed to escape, however the third boy, Marlon Lowe, did not. One of the birds clamped onto Marlon’s shoulder with its claws and proceed to lift the young boy from the ground for an estimated distance of about 30 yards. The young boy’s cries for help attracted the attention of the near by neighbors who rushed to his aid, combined with their help and the boy beating the bird as hard as he could, Marlon was finally released. Although viewed by some as a tale tail, the description given by witnesses of the attaching birds describe a large black bird, with a white ring around its neck and a wingspan of about 10 feet, traits that match the Andean Condor (Vultur gryphus) almost exactly.

Disembodied Brain [Original Cryptworld]

Disembodied Brain ( B.I.A.J )
[ Brain in a Jar ]
The brain in a jar is a masterpiece of preservation — but where mortuary preservatives leave off, the unexplained picks up. A disembodied brain is, in truth, an undead creature.
No one knows how or who creates them, but there seems to be one factor in common with each disembodied brain, That is the original owners of the brains were all extremely wealthy and were faced with a extreme disabling disease or handicap.
It is rumored, that months before the owner of the brain is to die, he/she is visited by a man dressed in all gray who for a price offers them eternal life. If they accept he comes back on the day of their natural death, removes the brain and places it inside a specially made vat. Moments later, the helpless person “wakes” to find out what he/she has become. This usually drives the poor victim insane which helps unleash the unsettling powers that the B.I.A.J is known to have.
A disembodied brain  weighs about 25 pounds, which includes the weight of the glass canister and the preservative fluids.
A disembodied brain can speak telepathically to any creature within 100 feet that has a language.

This talent allows a character to move objects by the power of his mind alone. He may move WPRx2
pounds with his mind at a rate of WPR feet per round, rounded to the nearest 5 (73 WPR would be 75 feet,
72 would be 70). An object may be moved to a distance of 100 feet. Only one object may be moved at a time, even if it is lighter than the user’s maximum pounds allowed. An object may be used as a bludgeon (but
considered as a missile attack), dealing damage on the unarmed combat results key if the object weighs less than 50 pounds, or on the armed results if it is over 50 pounds. A person may be lifted into the air
and dropped for normal falling damage.

Vigil for 2 Children Mom Allegedly Killed in 'Exorcism'

NOTE : This posting is not to highlight the crime committed by these women, but to be used as a means to show that from any news source a idea for cryptworld can be created. - Tym

Stunned neighbors organized a vigil Saturday night in front of the house where two children were found stabbed to death in suburban Washington after their mother allegedly attempted an "exorcism."

The children's mother, Zakieya Latrice Avery, 28, and Monifa Denise Sanford, 21, were charged in connection to slayings that Montgomery County Police said resulted from the women's belief that they were "performing an exorcism" on the children.

Two other children found at the residence had minor injuries and were expected to be OK, authorities said.

The women were charged with two counts of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted first-degree murder.

ABC News' attempts to locate attorneys for the two accused women have been unsuccessful.

Stuffed animals, flowers, balloons and candles lined the sidewalk in front of the house Saturday night where the children were found. Neighbors and visitors huddled around the improvised memorial with candles.

One woman, an unidentified relative, was seen sobbing uncontrollably on the sidewalk in front of the house, according to ABC News affiliate WJLA-TV in Washington.

Art from the Otherside

The Colt [Mysterious Object]

Back in 1835, when Halley's Comet was overhead, same night those men died at the Alamo, they say Samuel Colt made a gun. A special gun. He made it for a hunter. A man like us, only on horseback. Story goes, he made thirteen bullets. This hunter used the gun a half dozen times before he disappeared, the gun along with him... Somehow Daniel got his hands on it. They say... they say this gun can kill anything.

Type   Range Modifier  Ammo  ROF   RL   Mounted Use?
Revolver      -07                   6        4      2*         Yes
Special Ability : Colt created this gun with one purpose and one purpose only to kill those creatures that would hunt god fearing folk,
In game terms any damage done by this weapon is shifted one level when determining damage
exanple : a S result becomes a L wound,etc.
A natural C result is special, if a C result is naturally rolled then the thing must make a sta ability check with a negative modifer = to the damage caused by the amount from the c result.
Failure = Instant Death to the creature
S result = damage x 4
L result = damage x 3
M result= damage x 2.5
H result = damage x 2
C result = damage x 1
That seems too powerful? well here is the kicker, without the special bullets the colt is just that a simple revolver. It is rumored that colt scattered a trove of bullets across the country when he was finished with the revolver
